Join us for the next Chicago Filmmakers Green Screen Environmental Series: LAST CALL AT THE OASIS
Directed by Jessica Yu. USA, 2012, 105 min
From the company that brought us An Inconvenient Truth; Food, Inc.; and Waiting for "Superman", Last Call at the Oasis presents a powerful argument for why the global water crisis will be the central issue facing our world this century. This shocking investigation into the world's water crisis draws upon the work of scientists and activists including the real Erin Brockovich. Academy Award-winning director Jessica Yu offers interviews and hard evidence to bolster an urgent message: The fresh, clean water that H2O-hogging Americans take for granted will not last forever. Moreover, the supply is both shrinking and being polluted faster than most of us realize. Experts chiming in alongside Brockovich including hydrologists, biologists, grassroots water activists, bottled-water opponents and a PR firm trying to market eco-conscious recycled water to skeptical consumers make it clear why the film is titled Last Call, not Wake-Up Call - it’s already too late for that.
