Day Hike on the Low Gap Trail, Morgan-Monroe SF

Open invite to hike the Low Gap Trail in Morgan-Monroe State Forest (rain or shine). The hike is 12 mile distance with several 'decent' climbs. I consider it moderate difficulty but I have seen it described as 'rugged' because of the 12 mile distance.

Where:  Meet at the Park Office Parking Area (The 'P' by the Park office reference in the map below):

**Oh sure, we could park at the trail head.. but, then we'd miss out on the bonus 2 miles of hiking!  Parking at the trail head is limited and is popular.  The park office offers more spaces.**

When: 10 am start.   **Please be on site and ready to start at 10 am.**

This invite will repeat all year and into next during the first weekend of every month (or thereabouts). Looking forward to seeing the changes in scenery with the changes in the seasons.

Ah - Life Happens - I popped on and saw that I was the only one remaining on the RSVP list. When I had checked earlier this week, there was a decent sized group. I'll do something else tomorrow where I won't get myself lost. Perhaps Turkey Run.

Hope you all get to see some great fall color tomorrow after the sun comes out later in the day (and hope you got to see the full moon and partial eclipse tonight)

Anybody interested in a carpool from Indianapolis? I've got some space in my van and wouldn't mind taking on a few passengers; I know this route pretty well.
By default I'll be at the Marathon gas station on the SE corner of W 73rd and Georgetown Rd at 8:30 and leave by 8:45.

No, the hike on Saturday is not cancelled. I simply can't make it Saturday so, I opened another hike Sunday.

I have a special event to attend on Saturday afternoon so I will be unable to make the hike on Saturday. I'll plan the same hike for Sunday. Cheers.

What time do you expect to get back? I have another event I am attending that evening in Indy and want to make sure I have enough time to get back and get ready...

Hi all, if turning around after 3 miles is an option, I would like to attend. Please let me know. How many others would like to turn back after 3-3.5 miles to total 6-7 miles? I am not quite fit for the full 10 miles yet.

There is a loop option on Low Gap that would fit your mileage requirements. Also, there are road crossings with parking. Email our event host to see the intended route and what your options are. That way you could hike with the group longer. :)

We might come...isn't there a 3 mile loop option? If we can join the hiking group, we won't be able to hike for 10 miles.

The loop is ten mikes in total. But you can time yourself and turn around anytime.

RSVP is tentative. I have a home project I'm waiting for a final date to get help on.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
