H is for Heritage Tastings Cottage (Dinner)

Sorry I have been on a bit of a hiatus the past month, lots of things happening in my work and personal life that I just couldn't or didn't have the energy to set up any dinners in March.

But, I'm back into the swing of things and am continuing through the alphabet. Next on our list is a place called Heritage Tastings Cottage. They do a prix fixe menu with optional wine or beer tastings. They also have afternoon Tea Sittings on Saturday and Sundays.

We'll be heading here for dinner. Here's the spring menu: http://heritagetastings.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Spring-Dinner-Menu.pdf

I've never been to this restaurant but am looking forward to it.

From their website: http://heritagetastings.com/

The Heritage Tastings dinner menu is a prix fixe menu of 5 courses for $30.  The themed menu changes frequently and includes appetizer, salad, soup, entree, and dessert.  We feature dining choices that are thoughtfully prepared and in appropriate portion sizes so you will have the opportunity to indulge in a multi-course dining experience. You also have the option of a wine or beer pairing which includes a different drink carefully selected to harmonize with each course.

This was a nice find and I'd consider as a keeper. I wanted to try it since it's a fixed menu and I wanted to force myself to try things I wouldn't ordinarily try. I hate carrots and fennel and I thought the carrot w/ fennel soup was going to my own personal hell but the soup tasted great! No carrot or fennel taste so I loved it. Never had cornish hens before, tasted just like chicken, they were delicious. Every course was amazing. I also did the wine pairing, everything I tried was great, too.

Hi, there is quite a long wait list. If your plans have changed and you know you cannot attend this dinner, please update your RSVP to no so others on the wait list can attend.

No worries, the wait list is manual, we don't do automatic wait lists for this group.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. It's family-owned, and the owners are such warm, inviting people. The food is excellent.
