Who we are:
We are a community of Atheists and Humanists looking to raise non-theistic awareness and acceptance in the Central North Carolina region as well as on a national perspective. We hold great respect for reason, evidence and the scientific method as our best ways of understanding nature and our universe. Our view of the cosmos is one of naturalism without belief in supernatural forces, beings, or constructs. We celebrate our lives on this beautiful earth, in our bodies with joy and privilege. We believe in humanity's ability to love and respect one another without the need for religiously inspired violence or dogmatic intolerance.
What we do:
Conduct social gatherings that serve as a source of support and communion to our members. As non-believers, we can sometimes be made to feel isolated, rejected, or harassed by the overtly religious nation in which we live. Pious persecutions based purely on the failure of religious adherence are far too common in our country. Therefore, we encourage activism in the promotion of religious tolerance, including freedom of religion, and freedom from religion. The complete separation of church and state must be observed. As the very bricks our nation’s foundation has been constructed upon, we are obligated to preserve the wisdom of our Founding Fathers’ vision. We seek to organize our presence at public events to raise awareness and visibility as equal members of our nation regardless of our lack of desire for theistic platitudes.
