FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS....
WHO ARE WE?
I am Kimberly Meadows of Kimberly Meadows Photography, formerly Studio 714. You can find my work at www.kimberlymeadowsphoto.com. I am a multi published, award winning photographer in the tri state area. I have freelanced for a local major magazine as well as worked with some of the top designers in the area. I have worked with models for the last 3 years and am very versed in posing direction and expression. I have an established portfolio and have worked with models of all levels from those who need coached to professional, high profile models.I have extensive knowledge using Natural Lighting techniques as well and am always happy to assist as well as answer any questions about photography, gear, lighting, models and posing. I am known for artistic nude photography and the ability to style and capture my vision.
My specialty is Glamour. Glamour photography consists of boudoir, implied, nude and beauty shots in a more exaggerated form. Glamour photography is the more seductive side of beauty images...there is a difference.
WHAT DO I BRING?
This is simple, you just bring your awesome self along with your camera! Pocket Wizards are great to bring since it cuts down on transfer time during rotation! We provide flash units, when needed, along with a variety of modifiers. There is plenty of equipment for what is needed. Our natural light workshops are fantastic with our 9' windows that span every wall in the studio! Those are fantastic meets since it is continuous 2 hour shooting :)
HOW DO THE MEETUPS WORK?
Each photographer is assigned a number, that number will be from 1-10 (or how ever many are in attendance) Each number is randomly given out to each photographer. We will shoot in that order throughout the duration of the meetup. A time limit will be given for each rotation according to the amt of attendees and wardrobe changes. I have a timer that we use to keep track! There is PLENTY of time for shooting various poses, styles and props within a 2 hour period.
With natural light it is the same concept for the 'front man' position. Everyone is free to continuously shoot but we will rotate who is the 'lead photographer' using the same number system. This allows you to have the opportunity to direct your shots that you want!
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?
None...I don't care if you just picked up a camera yesterday, we all start somewhere! What better way than to shoot along side of other photographer who are either just learning same as you or seasoned pro's who you can learn from! I am always available for some good old brain picking! I am also very happy to help you when you are in the lead! We do ask that you shoot in Manual mode throughout and are very happy to help you set your camera to do so and assist you with any issues you may have.
WHY DO THEY COST SO MUCH?
To hire the grade of models that we use there is a fee. That fee is usually $100 an hour or more. These costs need to be covered along with the costs of the studio use (electric, rent, insurance, equipment costs, meetup fees). The models I seek out and hire are usually
A. Out of town, full time, professional models who have loads of experience. These models have graced the magazines (actual print magazines) all over the country. These models are the real deal!
B. Models who are local but he cream of the crop. These models are few and far between and also in great demand due to the major lack in quality, professional and dependable models in this area.
Either way, our models at CNK are professional, experienced, established, full time, quality models that are a HUGE asset to a photographers portfolio. We are committed to only providing the best models we can find for you!!
For our Fashion shoots we do hire professional hair / makeup artist as well as purchase / rent wardrobe for the event. We want these to be high quality shoots so we like to do it right!
WHY DOES IT SAY NO REFUND?
Our meetups refund policy is as follows. Refunds are given when the shoot is canceled or rescheduled by CNK. You have the option of a full refund or the option of putting it towards another meet. When there are limited spots and someone cancels at the last min, that spot is then gone. It is imperative that we have enough to cover expenses for each session. When a model cancels last min we know that is very disappointing, as it is to us as well. We will do our absolute best to find a suitable replacement to avoid cancellations. The models will always be beautiful and professional that we hire. In the instance that you do not like the replacement and chose not to come you may request a transfer to another shoot. You will have an expiration date and the credit will need to be used before then, usually 1 month.
WHY PAY TO RSVP?
I have this policy for the security of the models. If the session is pre paid that guarantees her / his fees are covered. If a photographer or photographers are a no show...it hurts the group in a whole as well as kept another photographer from being able to obtain that spot.
WHATS THE STUDIO LIKE?
The studio is quite amazing boasting 3 FANTASTIC studios. The main floor has an 900 square ft 'flash studio' where we do a majority of our shoots needing backdrop. The 2nd floor is a 3000 sq ft natural light studio filled with stunning props, dressing room, 2 bathroom facilities, flash area and fire escape. Last but not least is the newly added Carriage House, a 1500 sq ft old world style boudoir studio. You will NOT find another studio like this one.
WHY ARE THERE ATTENDEE LIMITS?
Some events will not have limits on the number of people attending; however, some workshops will be limited to about 10 people to ensure everyone as time to participate. I know that 10 sounds like a lot...but in order to keep the meet's affordable the attendance needs to be set to no more and no less than 10. This way we make sure not only YOU can afford it but we also can cover studio and model costs so that we can continue to put these on.
WILL THERE BE MODEL RELEASES?
Models will only be signing Workshop Model Releases. We have a digital program where the model signs and I email to all of you on the spot! Makes for easy record keeping and less paper.
WHEN SHOULD I RSVP?
I encourage you to RSVP early for events/workshops to secure your spot.
