A night of Italian dining in Elbridge

Click the link above for their website.  Great Italian food.

We will be meeting at the Elbridge location on Route 5. It is just on the right as you enter the village of Elbridge coming from Syracuse.

I know that the food events usually get a large number of attendees and I have never scheduled one before like this, so I am hoping I do this right!

They can accommodate a large group as long as I can give them a ballpark # by the week before the event.  So, please RSVP early and make sure that if you cannot come to change your RSVP by Wed, Sept. 25th.

The menus are listed on the website. Appetizers, entrees, pizzas, and desserts. They all speak Italian and I think it would be easiest if we could possibly figure out our orders ahead of time to speed things along if possible. If I could have your order prior to the event I could give them a head's up on what people would want. It isn't mandatory, but we will be served more quickly if they know what to prepare for.

They do sell wine there, but if you want to bring your own bottle you may.  They do charge a $6 fee per bottle.

They have also agreed to give us separate checks.

I hope I have covered everything.  I am looking forward to a great meal and meeting all of you wonderful people!!

Oh no! I'm so sorry, I forgot to de-rsvp -- it's a very busy week for us and I can't make it after all. Have a great time! I'll hope to see you soon.

Last time I was at Bambino's, they were offering gluten free items.

Someone had made the suggestion we go to Bambino's. I did not think they would have many gluten free choices. I accommodated and set a date for the restaurant and changed the name of the meet up. If someone wants gluten-free specifically they need to research it and choose an acceptable place to dine. The group has not met in awhile, so I thought I would just plan for the place that had been listed previously.

My comment may have come off more aggressive than I intended. Thank you for taking the initiative here! My suggestion would be to re-name the event to better suit the restaurant, and perhaps I will try to research something and do a proper Gluten Free Meetup in the near future!

I'm not sure if anyone understands what Gluten Free is. This is an Italian restaurant, which is a pretty bad choice for Gluten Free , as it's pasta and bread centered. "Just eat a salad!" isn't really acceptable. I guess I was expecting the chosen restaurant to actually be Gluten Free, or at least have a Gluten Free menu.

I'll have to do some digging to find local places that cater to Gluten Free, but it's hard. The big chains (Outback, Unos) that have a Gluten Free menu advertise well and it's public knowledge to those of us who have to eat that way. Unless I've happened to go to a local place and happened to notice they specifically serve gluten free items (Like Empire Brewing Co and their burgers) there's not a great way to know which local places serve Gluten Free fare. A nice lunch spot is Yum Yum's Gluten Free Bakery on Seeley Ave (across Erie Blvd from Midler Ave). But that's lunch, not sure if anyone's interested in lunch.

I have no idea if Bambino's offers Gluten Free, but I would be glad to pick a date and set something up since I live close to both of these restaurants. There is a Bambino's in Auburn and one in Elbridge (which would be closer to those coming from syracuse). I will look at my schedule and pick a date if people want to go. The food is very good. I prefer the setting at the Elbridge one....seems to be more open...roomier and has more of an Italian ambiance.

Will there ever be a date set for this???

Once you start taking Gluten out of your diet, it's quite amazing to see how much better you feel. I've just started trying to do this as best I can for the past few months. The Hypoglycemic-Load Diet book explain well the reasons why you don't want to eat much flours, bread or pasta (GLUTEN)- although I do understand that some people can't tolerate any gluten at all... but most of us shouldn't have any either! It was a sad day when I discovered all of this because I bake some pretty good bread! ;/ lol

It's a protein found in wheat, rye, barley, oats, and malt. Some people have Celiac Disease, some people are allergic, and some people just follow the diet.

I'm gluten-avoidant, so definitely interested in hearing about places that do *good* GF food.

Here are some places I already know and love that do good GF:
    King David's (Fayetteville)
    Papa Gallo
    Alto Cinco
    BoneFish Grill (I know, it's a chain...but it's pretty good!)
