Hi All!
Hope your summer is treating you well! I’m writing to let you know about a Take Charge! event that we are planning in partnership with Goodwill Industries of Denver’s Youth Services Program. We’d love to get you involved, too. Here are the details: 1.) Event Summary: On Friday, July 8th, Groundwork Denver will partner with Goodwill Industries of Denver to bring energy action to the Cole Neighborhood in Denver. In teams of two, volunteers will go to every door in the neighborhood offering to change out front-porch light bulbs to compact fluorescent bulbs, provide information about reducing energy use, and sign up people for free recycling, and weatherization. We need 50 volunteers, so we need you! Training and materials will be provided. Volunteers should have a desire to improve our environment and help people connect with resources and services. It's fun! 2.) Date: July 8, 2011 3.) Time: 1pm – 5pm 4.) Location: Cole Neighborhood of Denver (RSVP for exact meeting location) http://maps.google.co... 5.) Transportation: Volunteers are responsible for getting to the site. Here are a few options: a. Carpool – there will be parking b. Light Rail – Line D to the 30th and Downing Station http://www3.rtd-denve... c. Bus – The 12, 28, 38, 43, AF all go to this neighborhood http://www3.rtd-denve... d. Bicycling – The South Platter River Greenway - http://www.bikedenver... 6.) What youth volunteers will be doing: a. They will receive a training on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green jobs http://takechargecolo... b. Then, they will conduct a service learning activities to get them hands on experience in the green industry http://takechargecolo... What do you think? Would you be interested in working on this project? Thanks! Stephanie Stephanie Fry Take Charge!
