Compete in the 1ST annual “Amazing Race” right here in Colorado Springs on Saturday, June 1st! The Race is a city-wide challenge race held in Colorado Springs. Patterned after the CBS show “The Amazing Race,” this Race combines challenges that are physical, mental, and sometimes silly, and scatters Teams all over town in an effort to win the grand prize! Each Team of two people will race through five South American & Central American countries to collect colorful stamps for their passports — finding clues, answering trivia questions, and completing challenges along the way! Proceeds from “The Amazing Race for Animals” will benefit Wild Places Equine Rescue, and will help rescued horses and mules in Central Colorado! Wild Places Horse Rescue www.wildplacesrescue.org Wild Places is a year-round sanctuary for domesticated equines (horses, mules, donkeys) that have been abused, neglected, injured, or abandoned, as well as wild horses.

    Getting close now!! Was talking with Sass about some other possible offers for the silent auction and had a thought....

    Don't exactly know where the race either kicks off or finishes, but assuming its in a pretty public or well trafficed location:

    - try to get local news to show up for some publicity(?). I have messaged both KRDO and FOX, couldn't find good email address for KOAA and ran out of steam to get to KKTV.

    - consider doing a raffle for some of the auction items, reason being if we start in an area with many passers-by, for a dollar a ticket towards a good cause and a chance to win something may pulling in more money than just doing items for auction at the awards dinner.

    Last minute changes probably more of a headache than a help, but with some of the last minute businesses offering auction certificates, maybe do both a raffle for some and auction for others....

      Thanks Jeff! Brilliant ideas. I did contact KRDO and KKTV via email, but from my experience, there's a significantly better chance of getting coverage when speaking to someone on the phone. We do have a photographer from the Gazette covering it, but it would be such a fantastic story for the news stations too.
