Planning Meeting: Please come and help shape our Meetup Programme for 2013

Since CSR Geneva was formed in May 2011, our membership has grown rapidly and now stands at 100 members, drawn from many sections of the community and representing varying degrees of expertise and experience in the field of CSR.  We also joined up with CSRGeneva earlier this summer and now have joint meetings with them.

Over the past year we have had Meetups that addressed the expressed desire of members to pursue three theme tracks, namely education, activism, and social. In the course of this we have had some great presentations by guest speakers and some really good debate and discussion. In addition, many of those attending have found the Meetups to be a valuable forum for making new contacts and extending their business and social networks.

As organisers, Sonja, Xavier and I want to build on the success of our first year by inviting members to come and help shape the Meetup programme for 2013. So if you are free on the evening of the 10th October, please consider coming along with your thoughts and ideas about topics and speakers etc. As the name implies, Meetups are first and foremost about meeting people who have a shared interest and we want to have a programme for next year that encourages members to attend Meetups and do just that.

    A lively group discussed and the following points emerged:
    * Jobs in CSR and Sustainability fields are of interest to many members and we propose a specil Meetup on this issue (note the U of Geneva will have one of its CSR lunches on this topic on Jan 10th Hotel Cornavin.
    * Issues raised included
    + How to drive Company HR departments to do more on CSR/Sustainability?
    + Environment with climate change and sustainable outcomes are a key issue and worthy of extensive discussion in the group
    + It would be useful for the group to have a specific project to work on
    + Mention was also made of 'Carrot Mobilisation' see
    + How are Governments tackling CSR? Mentionw as made of progress in Denmark
    + Personal CSR came up and, in particular, where could one make the biggest impact in the CSR world if one really wanted to change things?
