"Golden" Opportunity

No, I'm not selling gold! This is a 'hint' at this meetings topic and location.

The location is at the end of Great Hill Pond Rd., Portland. Parking there is very limited so carpooling is highly recommended. I am planning to have lunch at the Winchester Café at around 12:30. If anyone wants to meet me there we can carpool from there.

The best location I found so far is just a short hike from the road. This is a unique location that would be impossible to work without the right gear. Gold pans are available at Cabela's and some military surplus stores. If you don't have a gold pan bring a wide mouth screw top plastic jar so you can take some material to use to pan at home. I did some checking online and I found there are small (noncommercial) gold deposits in nearly every northeast.

My philosophy on gold is: If you buy gold, you may get a profit or loss when you sell or barter it. If you know how to find gold, a profit is guaranteed.

We enjoyed the experience and we even found a few flakes of maybe gold about the size as a grain of rice in total.

I think the paint tray is a good Idea, it does seem to work, if nothing else it's a chance to improvise. I will be going to Cabelas early tomorrow for a gun sale, I will check out the gold pans.

Why do we need a gold pan?

Angel, i stopped by the cabellas in east harford and the prospecting kits were 30 bucks but I'm thinking of using your idea of a paint trey and a few other items instead as that should do the trick.

I could not find a gold panning kit but I researched and found you can make your own, you can use a paint pan, it's square but it has the sloping ridges like the round ones. I went out and tried it out on a river close by, didn't find any gold but it seems to work. let me know what you think.
