The Preppers Library

Sorry about the late change. My car died out on the interstate yesterday and I'm not sure how long it will take to get it running again.

I changed the Meetup to a topic that I can run at my house. I also changed the meeting to Sunday because I had several requests for Sunday meetings.

I have a good selection of books and magazines. I will be discussing a few of my favorites. Everyone will have the opportunity to see if they want to add any of the books to their own library. I also encourage anyone that has their own favorite books to bring them also.

Hopefully I can get back on the road so that I can reschedule the farm tour soon.

    Paul Drega welcome

IMHO the best web resource is The Survival Podcast and member forums with Jack Spirko at http://www.thesurvivalpodcast.com/. For a more hard core view of the coming crunch / colaps try The Survival Blog http://www.survivalblog.com/ and The Zombie Squad at http://zombiehunters.org/.

If you are just starting out or modestly on your way the best overall book is Doctor Prepper's Making the Best of Basics Family Preparedness Handbook http://www.amazon.com/Making-Basics-Family-Preparedness-Handbook/dp/0983046530/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1350767054&sr=8-1&keywords=Doctor+prepper%27s+making+the+best Lots of things to consider and lists!

Best fiction reading includes 299 Days series, Lights Out and Patriots: Surviving the Coming Collapse, the second two books in the series were not as good as the first. Though these books are fiction they have lots of good info especially concerning the interpersonal dynamics of group formation and resilience come crunch time!

Thanks so much Paul C - Just got in so haven't had a chance to check these out yet but thanks so much for the quick response. Can't wait to check them out - Something told me this site would be good. I can only imagine the difficulty going thru some government agency to get any such info. Your info will save me hours of research - you're the man Paul C.

Hi guys I don't believe I know anyone in the group but I'm glad to have found this site as it seems to be a great resource. Does anyone have a favorite prepper/survivalist book or website they could recommend?

I cannot make this one, but it would be a GREAT topic on our discussion boards? Willing? I have a decent but not extensive-enough library.

In the spirit of this meeting, I have uploaded a list of my favorite books and websites to the meetup's "files" section. Take a look, share if appropriate and if you have any suggestions for improvements please email them to me. I update the list frequently and share widely - consider doing the same to help those new to Prepping or as a wish list for future acquisitions.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
