Let's Hang Out During ConnectiCon!

Well, ConnectiCon 2013 is around the corner and there's plenty of time to spare during it's three-day span, so why not get together and go about?

There's games of all types, including those of the board and video variety. I'll have access of my particular group's game reserve, which includes such gems as "Sentinels of the Multiverse", "Betrayal at the House on the Hill", "Bang!", and a complete set of "Cards Against Humanity" (meaning literally every card ever made for it), plus many more. In addition, there's panels, the dealer room, and restaurants all over the place.

If this thing is news to you and you want to check it out, pre-registration is still going on until July 6th, and, as far as my knowledge, you can always buy passes at the door, $60 for the whole weekend and $25-$40 for individual days.

More detailed info is here if you want more specifics of the stuff going on: http://connecticon.org/

My first convention and definitely not my last.

I certainly had a good time today, and I really hoped that everyone else found something enjoyable to see or do as well. This was the first meetup that I had a significant role in organizing, so hopefully it wasn't as much of a mess as it seemed to me. (P.S. the Warrock show at the bar was a real blast!)

Not trying to rub it in the under 21 guys, but the bar was awesome

I had an amazing time. It was my first con ever and I was not disappoint. For being your first time organizing I think it went very well too. I will very gladly help to organize future meetups and events. I'll join the Skype group and we can figure or more stuff.

Well turns out my friends are very anti brony and are my only transportation. So I'll come back tomorrow. When I have my wheels back.

I really look forward to it. I was hoping my friends would be open to the culture but I was sadly mistaken. Tomorrow in by myself so complete open freedom. Let's plan something.

Last time I ever go to a meet up with someone else's transportation. I had high hopes for today but friends had to be major buzz kills. Hope tomorrow is better.

3 am, just finished the most evil game of monopoly ever. Be there, when ever I get there.

The underage group is still around in the con center, and the of-age guys are bar hopping around, with the last known location being the Hartford room at east coast dogs on asylum street

      July 13, 2013

    • Spence

And I'm almost certain I passed by you in the dealer room as well. I would suggest calling Gerard and find out what to do

Here we go you guys, the final countdown. A few final things before this goes down:

    1. Make sure you have the $40 *cash* ready to go if you have to buy a pass at the door.

    2. They moved the registration areas around for this year. People that need to buy a pass at the door have to go to the bottom floor of the convention center near the doors leading to the parking garage, and people that pre-registered can go up to the main floor. Either way, once you have your pass, meet us on the main floor. I'll be wearing a Fluttershy "Painkiller" t-shirt and an N7 hat. I'm literally the only person wearing pony metal shirts, so you'll find me.

    3. The table gaming area is in it's own room this year, so if you want a quieter area to unwind a bit or want to actually play a board game or something, then there's your area. Side note: I'm still taking suggestions for what you may want to play.

    4. In the event that I'm there and Gavin isn't, and you need to contact me, my number is (203)[masked]

You guys need to stop spending money on me.

I only promise to spot you for stuff because your pic is fluttershy and I think it will remove her sad. Then when we get to the meetup I realize it's just you :P

I want your problem. Having friends spend money on me? Sweet deal :P

So, two days until this event. Where exactly is the meet up spot? Is it at the entrance of the convention hall or at the bottom of the stairs or at the exit of the parking garage going into the hotel thing? Or is it even someplace else?

    July 11, 2013

    • Mercedes J.

Huh never knew it was a hotel. Hooray for ignorance! And registration it is.

      July 11, 2013

    • Spence

The hotel is across a walkway from the convention center, technically on the same property.

      July 11, 2013

Just a little reminder, if you're planning on buying a pass at the door on Saturday, you have to pay in *cash*, so get that money up or else they won't let you in. But hey, they also have an ATM in the main room in case you forget, as well as a few bank branches a couple blocks up in the business district if you don't want to pay any ATM fees.

i've had to do it before, so i'm almost certain it's tax-included

      July 9, 2013

    • Joshua K.

I bought mine online and paid a flat $40. I can only assume that tax is included.

Hi, I'll be going to ConnectiCon and am part of a Brony Panel, so I figured I'd stop by. At 9:00 Sat morning, I'm hosting the Juggling class, so I'll have to catch up with you later!

    July 6, 2013

    • Spence

      which panel are you in?

      1 · July 6, 2013

  • Spence

So the main plan now is to get together on Saturday morning (around 9) and formulate things from there. My friend (the one that owns all the games) is going to be tied up in fighting game tournaments most of the day, so I'll be able to snag whatever he has on my way out of the hotel and bring it there. With that in mind...

Betrayal, Sentinels, and a few others I forgot the names of are for up to 5 players, and Bang and CAD are for up to 10. For the sake of variety, I'll likely be able to stuff maybe 2 or three of them in a bag and lug it over, but I would be more comfortable to take requests on games to prevent having to spend like 10 minutes taking the shuttle back to the hotel to grab something. And we could also play some MTG, I guess, if people are up to that too.

I'm going to post a full list of what my friend plans to bring in due time so you can make a better decision on what you want me to bring.

    July 4, 2013

    • Mercedes J.

Eh, I'm not into all the games and whatnot. My imagination/creativity is nonexistent, so to say I'm bad at them is an understatement. I'm going for autographs from the celebs.

how about random japanese snack foods? there's a gross overabundance of it there, for good or ill.

Here's the meetup on the Boston page, you guys should post there to help organize this meetup for those traveling down: http://www.meetup.com/Bronies-Boston/events/121328492/

thanks, i went ahead and dropped some knowledge for ya. hope it helps.

I'm going there for just Friday and Saturday. I'm gonna pass on Sunday. On Friday, I'm going solo, but I don't mind meeting with you fellow bronies during the convention. On Saturday, I'll be coming back to CTCon with friends of my own, but they're not bronies though.

If I wanted to meet up with you guys, is there some kind of plan that this group has in mind?

    July 4, 2013

    • Spence

And I'll change the time to just Saturday to avoid any confusion.

      July 4, 2013

    • Rylus

I'm planning on meeting with Marina Sirtis, Jim Cummings, and Doug Walker at the con. If anyone's interested in just meeting with me, just let me know.

Darn, I'm working 8-5 Mon-Fri. Will you guys be going up Saturday as well?

    July 3, 2013

    • Joshua K.

Okay, I'm a 6'2" blonde guy and I'll be wearing probably shorts and a black BRONY shirt with RD on the front. I'll have my orange sunglasses too.

      July 3, 2013

    • Spence

I'm going to be wearing my Fluttershy "Painkiller" shirt and an N7 hat, likely in transit with another person.

      July 3, 2013

  • SullMaster

Maybe, I still need to make it to a CT meetup. You should ask the Boston and Rhode Island groups to come too.

    1 · July 3, 2013

I'm already going up on Saturday with my brother our friend. He wants to meet Cummings I wanna meet Sirtis. I'm totally ok with meeting up with you guys.
