I just didn't like the movie in general. I couldn't even sit for the entire movie, awful. All the characters were too weird and twisted. I'm glad I didn't see the murder of the dog... I'm an animal lover.

If it makes you feel better, the dog totally blew his death scene by blinking and smiling. I read that other dog thespians were critical of his acting in that scene and found it "unconvincing"

I like the movie about a good man trying to help the "insane" community, where his presence was a frequent remind of their "comfortable" intoxicated lives.

Not a mainstream film, for a change. Quite stirring, thought-provoking, I wonder if it's based on a book... deep, and lots of symbolism (sinful people, crucifixion, etc.). Also, this film's aim or message could possibly be about forgiveness for the church's past mistakes, sins, letting go of its dark past... the butcher being the unsympathetic character that won't let go and forgive the source of his emotional pain, and the sympathetic priest who seems to be the only sensible good person in town. On a different note, our dinner rendezvous afterwards was nice, fun as usual ;-)

Anyone else feel worse about the dog getting murdered than the priest? At the end, I'm like "Wait, then WHO THE HELL KILLED THE DOG?! WE GOTTA FIND THAT @$$HOLE!"
