Blue Ribbons and Arches

We will meet out in the Parking Lot in front of where Blockbuster used to be.  From there we'll carpool up Little Park Road to the top of the Ribbon Trail and park in the gravel parking lot with the concrete pit toilet.

The hike is approximately 4 miles in & out.  The route is 95% off-trail, going through rolling terrain most of the way, except close to the arch where there are steep drop offs.  Some climbing over and around boulders is required.

Please note that this hike goes into the Monument proper, where they have a no-dogs policy, which means that dogs cannot come on this hike.

Christine, the following link describes the Ribbon Trail in the Monument:
The hike on May 3rd starts at the upper end (the west end) trailhead for that hike, but diverges quickly and goes a different direction (aside: if you're looking for other trails near Grand Junction, describes a fair number of them.)

This hike is east of that area by a 10 miles (my guess). Do you know where the mica mine trailhead is off of Little Park road? It's a mile or so west of there. Said another way: do you know were Serpent's trail is in the Monument? As the crow flies, it's a ways south (and slightly west) from there.
