Open Jam at Cafe Bohemia - "Acoustic Night" Tuesday from 7pm - 10pm

Tuesday nights are "Acoustic Only" (with an electric bass as an exception). Cafe Bohemia is compact, so please keep your gear simple. Space is at a premium.

GROUP BIO

If you are looking for a break from the stress and structure of your week and an opportunity to share & develop your musical skills in a laid-back “song circle” format (It’s not an “Open Mic” event.), we look forward to you joining us. We are a warm, friendly group, and we love music. You are welcome to bring your original works, but we encourage you to bring pieces that others are familiar with, so everyone can play along with you. Ultimately, that’s what an “open jam” is all about; everyone playing & singing, learning and having a good time together.

This group is mainly for guitar & stringed instrument enthusiasts. However, there are often other acoustic instruments in participation. Cafe Bohemia is a "cozy" venue. So, most participants bring their more "compact" instruments, and are aware of the need for maintaining a reasonable volume level. For instance, whereas an accordion has tended to be a challenging fit in the past (given its intense volume), a harmonica or bongos have been more of a "complement" to our group. We meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM, and the third Saturday of each month from 1pm until 5pm. Tuesday nights are "Acoustic Only" (with an electric bass as an exception). Thursdays are the designated “Electric Nights.” The third Saturday meetups are acoustic. Again, since it is a compact and well-insulated venue, we ask that you pay close attention to volume and if you have a choice of amps, please bring your more compact one.

A suggestion. Why not while the weather is beginning to cool down in the evening, form a circle outside, out front, and play? Cafe Bohemia is a small place for so many guitars, listening guests, and guests who are doing other things like play dominoes and visit and socialize. With so many players, guests who do want to listen to the music find it difficult to even find a place to sit. And, the noise is over the top, guitars banging for those wanting to socialize in other ways, and the socializing of others for the guitar enthusiasts. Otherwise, it's a heaping good time for all.

Understand. We all seem to manage anyway. The ceiling is high enough. Maybe Evie would let us erect a 2nd floor?

I enjoyed sitting in with you all. Hope I was able to help the sound rather than degrade it. Hope to join the Jam more in the future.

Sorry I missed this past Tuesday. Was babysitting a sick (flu) grandchild. I hope to make it back this coming Tuesday.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
