Let's go to Cafe Psychologique and discuss 'Parenthood'

** As I'm at Andy's Insulation talk (Green Drinks), THIS EVENT NEEDS A HOST**

In Philip Larkin's, 'This be the verse', we hear that,'

'Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.'

I don't share Larkin's take on parenthood, though my kids might have a different view by the time they're adults!

Parenthood - a fascinating topic, whether you are a parent or just have or have had parents.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This month's topic, 'Parenthood' introduced by Clinical Psychologist, Fiona Thorne. Chat and think over a drink. Café Psychologique is about people’s lives approached through the ideas of psychology, psychoanalysis and psychotherapy.

The Café is convened by a Group Analyst (a psychoanalyst who specialises in running groups) and resourced by experts in psychology and psychotherapy and the conversation is driven by the participants in the Café and the areas they want to discuss, based around the theme of that particular meeting.

People are free to talk about whatever they want, and the art of Group Analysis is to recruit the resource provided by the group to enable exploration and discovery, whether discussing relationships, creativity, ageing, sex, parenthood, consumerism, the arts, death or cricket. Change happens through conversation. Tickets £3

I go to these once a month by way of a psychology meetup group - and there are lot of regulars who you may well have already met from other meetup groups in the area. It is an interesting venue with lots of artistic events which might be to your taste and there is Beer and Food of course. Basically it is just a discussion but with subjects you wouldn't normally cover in a bar and it is usually a good laugh whatever the subject.
