Woking's Cafe Scientifique is a fun, engaging, informal venue to discuss science and technology. Held in Cellar Magneval wine bar in the town centre in Church Path just across from the station entrance, at 7 pm on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, it is ideal to drop in for some mental stimulation after the commute home, and equally accessible to town centre workers and those coming in from the surrounding area.
The launch event will be in February 2014 - 11th Feb at 7 pm, with a talk linking digital video, Renaissance smart phones, school physics and our own local Lightbox gallery - a typically eclectic and enthralling mix.
Cafe Scientifique is a national movement for science and technology in casual settings: each has its own character but all are fun, engaging, informal and explore fascinating ideas in science and technology.
Our Cafe will have its own local flavour: Woking is not a University town but we have a lot of hi-tech businesses in the town centre and you could almost say we are a postgraduate rather than an undergraduate town - our people are already graduated. But our Cafe Scientifique is inclusive and you don't need any science background to enjoy it, just a lively interest in matters scientific.
