Cafe Scientifique is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore and debate the latest ideas in science and technology.
The Basingstoke Cafe Scientifique is the public and FREE Science Interest Group of the Active Hampshire Social Club. The meetings and talks are all public events (though some external events such as theatre trips require advance payment and/or booking) which are open to anyone with an interest in learning more about the latest ideas in Science and Technology.

You can join this Cafe sci Meetup group free of charge to receive email notifications of our talks and any science and technology talks, debates and lectures that we hear about in the local area.
We run our own talk and discussion meetings with an invited speaker on the last working Monday of every month (except in December). These are held from 7.30pm at the Tea Bar, 9-13 London Street, Basingstoke RG21 7NT in the Top of Town area of Basingstoke..
You are welcome to arrive at the monthly meeting venue any time from 6.30pm onwards for drinks and cakes etc. The main talk starts at 7.30pm and usually lasts around 30 to 40 minutes. There is then a short break after the talk for you to get more drinks and cakes etc before we go into the main discussion session. We generally aim to finish at around 9.00pm with some time afterwards until 10.00pm for you to chat to the speakers and other members.
We aim to provide members with information about a wide range of events that may be of interest. We include on the web site details of Cafe Scientifique meetings in Reading, Winchester and Southampton plus those of our local Skeptics in the Pub rational debating groups in Reading and Winchester.
