TREKS AND TRAVELS | A Visit to Zanzibar and Madagascar

In the fall of 2012 Ulrike Thomas spent 3 months travelling through Africa, which included the islands of Zanzibar and Madagascar.

Her presentation will focus on Zanzibar’s stunning beaches, seaweed farming in the Indian Ocean and the UNESCO world heritage site of Stone Town as well as Madagascar’s amazing wildlife not found anywhere else in the world such as lemurs, shifakas and a variety of chameleons and other lizards.  The trip included a visit to the spiny forest full of Baobab trees and home stays with the fascinating and hardworking local people.

Ulrike is a student finishing her MBA at the University of Calgary. Her parents are CALL members.

This presentation is free for CALL members, $5 for non-members.

CALL membership is $50/year (September - August), to join visit CALL's website at:

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
