Japanese Festival: Omatsuri!

Welcome to Calgary Japanese Festival Omatsuri

http://calgaryjapanesefestival.com/?page_id=5

Now in its third year, the Calgary Japanese Festival Omatsuri presents a wide variety Japanese cultural activities, music, dance, food and merchandise. Families and children of all ages are invited to join us on Saturday, August[masked] from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for a celebration of Japan, its people, and of the Japanese Canadian populations of Calgary and around the world!

“OMatsuri” is the Japanese term for a “traditional festival”. Visitors to the festival will be treated to authentic Japanese food and snacks, presentations of traditional music, dance and song, dramatic re-enactments of classic Japanese fairy tales, martial arts demonstrations, and more!

There will be games for kids, galleries of local Japanese arts and crafts, and kiosks were you can purchase authentic Japanese goods. Many of the local Japanese Canadian community will be on hand to present and enjoy this festival of all things Japan.

Admission is $5.00 per person.
Kids under the age of 12 are free.

You can purchase tickets in order to access our food and snack booths and some of our games.

We will see you this summer for Calgary’s Omatsuri!

So who actually met up? Lol. I was a bit late but I made some random friends because of it. Thanks for bringing this festival to my attention.

I seemed to have missed you guys (too bad I thought I could finally introduce myself properly). I couldn't make it before 2 as well. I was the one who made the announcer ask for a lost brown hat. :)

Oh! I saw you then. I was at the playground entrance at that time. Didn't know it was you.

I asked the hottest girl I know to this and she said she'd be busy (and I believe her.) What this means, though, is that I'm probably going alone. Thank you for organizing this meetup.

Hi, I'm new. I'm sort of a Japanophile so if I'm in the mood, I might just quit my terrible part-time job in order to attend this. Wish me luck, guys.

Good luck! There is nothing like a fresh start! I've quit my jobs on other job's interview days because my boss wouldn't let me get the day off. Best thing I've done twice! Go for it. There is nothing for you there if you are rotting at work.

I'll be there for the food for sure! I'm curious what the Matsuri festival of Calgary is like. I'll be sure to bring my yukata with the tombo-chan!

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
