Difficult XC Ski: Lookout/Tyrwhitt/Blueberry Hill

Exploring the hills of Peterlougheed Prov. Park, we'll start at Elk Pass Parking lot and quickly head up to Lookout from the south side for lunch. We'll then cruise down, and around to Tyrwhitt, before traversing over to Blueberry Hill for some final views. Blueberry Hill (305 m elev) and Lookout (215m elev) have spectacular views, but skiers must be capable of a long ascent and descent. Both are marked as difficult.

This is the forth in a series of monthly skis that increase in endurance. To be allowed on the trip, you must have accomplished 20km in a single day this season.

A good level of fitness is required as the pace is moderate to fast and the ski is long. Please be realistic about your abilities. You must be able to commit to the entire event.

Note: Location may change, or event may be cancelled depending upon the conditions.

Rating: Difficult XC Ski (D4)
Distance: 30-35 km
Elevation gain: 520 m
Time: 6 - 8 hours (+ driving time; 2h one way)

With the Cookie Race having taken place yesterday, the trails should be in top form - especially with the snow it sounds like they've been having the last little while. Forecast has a high of -1oC, which may feel colder. If its sunny out, sunscreen and sunglasses may be a good idea. Remember to show up a titch early to sort out carpooling at Edworthy. See you then!
