What we’re about
Alberta H Friends is a social group for people who've been gifted with herpes (HSV-1, HSV-2) and HPV who live in Alberta. People interested in making new friends, partake in social/fun activities, and meet others who share our surprisingly common situation are always welcome! The group is for people with "H" to not feel alone, to get accurate facts (that they may not be getting from their medical professionals) and support with questions and challenges of living with herpes.
As a community we refuse to be socially imprisoned by mistakes or dishonesty in love. We’ve decided to boot the elephant out of the room and not only confront herpes stigmas, but make lemonade out of lemons by forming this healthy exclusive community. That’s right exclusive. Only the gifted can join
Since H does not discriminate and neither do we; we are a very diverse group of people. It does not matter who you are, what your ethnic background, age, sexual preference, relationship status, religion, politics, outside interests or what you do for a living – were a wonderful mix of people and we make the most of it!
Alberta H Friends is NOT a herpes or HPV dating site nor is everyone in the group single and looking. Although, some couples have met through the groups. Instead, we plan social events and activities to allow you to meet one another in a supportive, relaxed atmosphere. It's about making new friends and having fun together and being reminded our gift shouldn't restrict you to live and enjoy your life. Most of our events take place at public locations and occasionally a members house, so even new people will feel comfortable. Our events are held in Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton and are attended by both singles and couples.
Volunteers to organize events and activities that others might be interested are appreciated.
