We will walk the trail through the Taylor Lake Campground to "visit one of the great ... larch forests in the Rockies" (Patton & Robinson, Canadian Rockies Trail Guide, 8th ed., p. 83). We can then explore up the valley for the three tarns, or ascend a nearby ridge for unfolding views of Panorama Valley on one side and Taylor Lake on the other (though that means extra elevation gain and one easy rock step).
Estimated total walking distance is 16 kilometers, on good trail or open ground. Elevation gain to the tarns is estimated at 750 meters.
The planned pace will in any event be unhurried (for reasonably fit hikers), and enjoying a nice lunch break at the Meadows will be considered enough of an accomplishment if time starts to run short. (Note the intended return time to Calgary.)
