King Edward School Photo Exploration

This will be the chance to wander through an abandoned school and document it's remains before renovations begin. I will be bring my big guns, my 8 x 10 and 4 x 5 cameras and I invite others to bring film and vintage cameras as well. However one can shoot digital as well (I know I will be). The organization that is renovating the building will be holding a photo competition amongst the various groups that will be taking this same opportunity that all attendees of this meetup will have the choice of participating. A chance to try a variety of work as you can do documentary or if you want to bring a subject to photograph can do this as well. Contact me if you plan to attend and want more information. No charge for this event.

I loved having the freedom to go anywhere in the school to take photos. The amount of people on this event seemed perfect - not crowded. I found it thoroughly enjoyable, and therapeutic. Thanks Patrick, for organizing. I look forward to future events.

This was My first outing with CIFP. It was a great opportunity to capture some great photos and to help capture a bit of history at the same time. I wish we could have had more time but I understand.

Really appreciated Patrick coordinating this rare opportunity to get up close & personal with one of Calgary's heritage buildings. Feels even better knowing what the end goal plan is :D

Great location, would have preferred (both me and my model) that whoever started shooting my model while I was would have asked her first if it was okay out of courtesy. Other than that, everything was perfect. Members were really helpful and kind, and everyone seemed to encourage each other to get great shots.

Cool to see a school empty, on the creepy side to be honest. Got some great photos, enjoyed the freedom.

Great opportunity, the only downside was not having as much time as I would have liked but grateful none-the-less. Very interesting plans for this old gem.

As to saftey boots, hard hats, No the school is very safe. There are some areas that will require a little extra caution on the top level, but if one uses common sense there should be no troubles.

I am very pleased with the response we have had, more then I had expected really. Even though the school is large the property owners have asked to keep the size to a managable amount and I think we have reached that. So if you are on the list as of March 17 I look forward to seeing you. If you can't make it please let me know so I can fill your spot. For those who have not decided and confirmed please watch and if it drops below 24 you may add your name. Thanks for the terrific response.

    Hello Adam

Yes site access is all arranged. There will be a waiver to sign basically stating that one will use common sense while in the building. My contact who reprents the group doing the renovations will be here to let us in but will not be staying. We are one of about five groups that will have access over the next 3 weeeks to document the building as we like. Hope that anwers your questions.
