If Weather is on our side!!!! Go to highway 22 to Turner, Black Diamond, Longview, Pincher Creek, then To Waterton. It is so gorgeous there.

For those that want to eat before we go we meet at 8.30 for breakfast at Denny’s. Gas station is in the same area as well.

I enjoyed my one way ride with the group to Waterton. But I decided to head out on my own to travel the Going to the Sun road over Logan's Pass in Montana... WOW!!! On the way back last night near Okotoks I passed by a fatal motorcycle accident where a young guy on a Hardly Dangerous travelling south on the #2 was unable to avoid a car turning onto the northbound lane that apparently did not see him... Moral of the story is KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN AND EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!

It was a great ride and beautiful scenery...but long rides like that kill my butt! Anyone know where I can get a riding pillow for my derrière?

    • Dan

Nice! Little pricier solution but I know a few folks who swear by those seats.

Great ride although my butt is complaining right now. Always great to meet new people. Was fun maybe next time we have some camping gear and stay over there. Would have been nice to explore a bit

Roy, if you haven't been, it's a beautiful spot to spend a weekend camping. The townsite campground is just a field, but I can recommend the Waterton Springs - it's the campgound you pass before you get to the turnoff to the park, on Hwy 6. Gorgeous treed spots, a nice shower block, very reasonable rates, and the tenting side of it is rarely that busy.

I agree, great ride today, good weather, good company. Nice to meet new members. Thanks Alli for the suggestion on the lunch location. Was a nice place, couldn't have been better. :)

    Thanks!

Great ride today, nice to meet a number of new folks. Hope everyone got to see the news story in the making on the way out of the park. The lady with the camera sneaking up on the mama bear and her cubs was classic...what could possibly go wrong?

A shortcut would be to head to Nanton and cut over on the 533 to Chain Lakes then south on 22 and eventually towards Pincher Creek.

    July 5

    • Kevin

Hey, I like this idea. The 533 is a great road.

      July 5

    • Alli

This makes for a lovely ride, but it does mean you have to backtrack a bit when you come out at the end ... not that that's really a problem.

  • barb

You guys keep saying thw border....is this the us or bc alberta border? Will I need to bring a passport?

    July 2

    • barb

Yes it does thank you kevin

      July 2

    • GAIL L.

It is the US border (Montana) and you'll need your passport if you are going on the Going to the Sun road. You won't need one for Waterton as that is in Alberta.

      July 2

  • Bruce P.

Anyone for extending to going to the sun rd?

    June 23

    • Simon P.

If you loop back through Eureka/Fernie, it's about 900Km. Border just south of Waterton is quick. Better check the park if it's open. Logan pass is still closed as of today. You can ride 13 miles on the Rast side, 16 miles on the West side.

      July 1

    • Bruce P.

Sorry for the late jump in I have been in and out of town. I think that maybe that Going To The Sun should be a separate trip. I will be back from SD July 12 and see if there is interest in a different day.

      1 · July 2

  • Mike B

We'll be joining in for the ride to Waterton but we will have to pass on the Going to the sun. Look forward to meeting some new faces.

I'm out on road to the sun...want to do it someday, just not that day. Can't wait for Waterton though...love it there?

  • Dan

Going to the sun road is an amazing ride, but I would be out for that piece

    June 30

  • Alli

I'm good, but out for the trip over the border. I like the sound of a good ride, finding a nice spot for lunch, and heading home early afternoon.

  • GAIL L.

If I'm back from Regina, I will be there. I also would love to do Going to the Sun, Bruce.
