Let's do a day trip to Radium BC, grab a bite to eat and soak in the hot springs!

The distance is 263 km – about 3 hours. We will stop every 100kms/1 hour to fill up, stretch our legs and take some pictures.

We will take highway 1 or 1A  and turn off at the AB-93 S ramp to Radium Hot Springs.

We can eat lunch at a local restaurant.  suggestions are welcome.

And of course we will soak in the hot springs before returning back to Calgary http://www.radiumhotsprings.com/activities/listings/hot-springs#page

The sight seers group sure didn't seem like they were going only 5km over, we lost everyone very quickly and ended up not going because of this. Sad.

Wish they could break groups up in smaller groups create more distance on long trips!!

I'm heading to Vancouver on my bike after work Thursday Aug 28th, likely stopping Golden Thurs night and riding the rest of the way Friday. If anyone interested in joining, great!. But I wouldn't be riding back with you cuz Sunday morning continuing on down the coastal hwy, then cut across to Grand Canyon and home Sept 10th. It's a riding intensive trip,[masked]km average days..... it will be the 3rd time doing this on a bike, never enough!

Hey Gideon.....sorry you got pulled over....thanks for taking one for the team - hope it didn't hurt. PS...if you get yourself a blonde ponytail, it seems they like to let you off with a warning :)

Shall we do a group buy on fake ponytails? O:-)

      June 22, 2014

    • Lynn F.

Well well now...the ponytail isn't such a bad thing now is it?! Please just make sure it's not too distracting when I'm riding behind you lmao

Sorry guys, I did not catch you at Canmore, I had lunch in Canmore and bought a short pants for hot water, arrived Radium hot spring at 2:30pm, spent 2 hours in hot water and sun, then had dinner at Radium town, filled up tank, drove back to Calgary , engine died at 5 km away from Calgary due to empty fuel tank, used reservoir to ride to Shell gas, :))))). Love this old Suzuki. I just found my brand new short pants was forgotten in Hot spring locker, :-/, otherwise, perfect ride, the weather in BC is very good. Met twice bears and twice big horn sheep, this trip can't be better! It is like riding in heaven. Thanks for this good idea, Thank you for thanking me, really good food.

    1 · June 21, 2014

    • Chuck R.

Yeah I seen those two bears lol to hell with stopping to take pics lol

      June 22, 2014

    • Kevin

I saw the bear last year on this trip. Same place probably the same Bear. Got pics then. So just blew by this year. To hell with stopping. Lol.

I'm at the junction of 93 and 1a, it's castle mountain gas station. Off of trans canada turn right and go to the junction of 1a, about a km or so. I'll wait until 12:15

    June 21, 2014

    • Goldie W.

You have to go west on trans canada to hwy 93 which goes to radium, it's about 25 min from Banff. Do you want me to wait here for you. I'm a km from the intersection of hwy 1 and hwy 93. It's near Johnston canyon

      June 21, 2014

    • Goldie W.

      Ok

      June 21, 2014

  • Goldie W.

I'll be at hwy 93 before noon

    June 21, 2014

  • Goldie W.

I'm at the husky at deadman flats. Are you guys taking the 1a west of Banff?

    June 21, 2014

  • Lynn F.

Not sure who is leading this ride but nobody has responded for the benefit of Mike G or Jeff M so if no other suggestions and for their benefit and planning can we say that our first stop will be the Petro Canada in Canmore? Ps....I need to be back in YYC Saturday night and won't be overnighting in Invermere this trip

Checking the weather for Banff and Radium, they are showing good weather for both. I will open my garage door at 0930 and hopefully head for the Petro in Cochrane. ;)

I'm up in Rockyridge, about 1 minute from the 1A... Suns out and drying up here :)

    June 21, 2014

If this was a later meet up time I think it would be a mo brainer....but it's still gonna be cold and wet in 2 hours. If anyone wants to push the time to a 10:30 meet, I will still go but I think I'm out for 9:00

    June 21, 2014

    • Lynn F.

And by mo brainer my iPad means no brainer

If it doesn't stop raining.... I'm out :). Stupid weather

    June 21, 2014

  • Kevin

Nothing but warm weather and blue skies in the forecast for tomorrow people. Bring your sun block. :D
Oh, throw in your rain suit. If you bring it you won't need it. See you in the morning at the Petro. Bring a park pass if you have one.

    June 20, 2014

  • Bruce P.

    PARK PASS
I believe that a family pass will get 6 bikes into the park. I bought last year for a group but will have no use for one this year. Who all have PASSES? that are attending the run?

    June 20, 2014

    • Paul

BTW I don't have a pass this year. Can still ride to Radium, just can't stop inside the park.

      1 · June 20, 2014

    • Kevin

The hot springs are inside the park, so we do need passes. One pass is good for 7 people. I have one and will bring it.

Looks like I have to drop my kids off on Saturday at 9, anyone know where the first stop is? Or shall I just ride the 1a until I pass someone I recognize?

    June 19, 2014

    • Mike G

      Kids canceled will be there.

      June 20, 2014

    • Bruce P.

The usual is to beak in to smaller groups of fast and sightseers and head up the 1A to Canmore Petro-Canada West side of town, so everyone is not at the pumps at once. Then into Banff Park and back to the 1A (you need a park pass if you go off the 1 or stop in the park). Castle Mt Junction to 93 to lunch place to be decided. From my perspective only.

Hey all, just curious to those who have done this ride before...I find hwy 93 south pavement a bit rough and rutted even in the car, how is it on two wheels?

    June 9, 2014

    • Lynn F.

I've ridden it twice this year already. No issues from my point of view. Mind you...we ride Alberta roads...our bar is set pretty low lol
