Please indicate when you sign up if you are able to offer a ride.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU:

  • Lunch
  • Water - 2 litres or more if required
  • Flask with a hot drink/soup
  • Granola bars or trail mix
  • Small first aid kit
  • snow shoe repair kit if you have one (duct tape can come in handy)
  • A large piece of plastic or something to sit on during lunch
  • Bear Spray

CLOTHING

Large heavy coats will be too hot We suggest you dress in layers and do not wear COTTON this includes jeans. Make sure you have room in your pack to store your jacket in case you need to take it off if you get too hot. Note that when we stop for lunch you will cool down, so you may want to have a spare top in your backpack to pop on while we eat. Extra dry mitts are a great idea too. (We always leave another change of clothes in the car so we have something dry to drive home in).

Hi, Lynne was supposed to give me a ride on Saturday morning, but she come down with a cold. Does anyone live in the NW(I live in Varsity Acres)and can pick me up at Brentwood or Dalhousie. I can actually meet anyone at any C-Train stations and I also can picked up at Market Mall as I live near there. Thanks.

    February 18, 2013

  • Janice

I can offer a ride. 2 at the most as I already have 2 in my vehicle. I live in the SE so I can pick up anywhere south of Glenmore.

    February 9, 2013

  • Frank & L.

Please indicate if you can offer a ride, only Lynne C is offering one at the moment.

  • Emily Y.

    I'm interesting, but some question:
    1) I've never done snow shoe before, this will be my first time, anything I need to notice?
    2) I don't have snowshoes, where can I rent one?
    3) I'll need a ride.
    Thanks~

    January 30, 2013

    • Frank & L.

Hi Emily please take the time to read our advice on clothing and snow shoes before you come. Cotton and Jeans are not allowed. http://www.meetup.com...

      February 3, 2013

  • Prudence

Do we get to rent snowshoes at the location, or do we need to bring our own? Thanks!

    January 29, 2013

    • Frank & L.

Hi Prudence you need to rent them yourself. MEC rents them as does Rapid Rent

      January 31, 2013

    • David

Hi Prudence. Outside of MEC and Rapid Rent, the U of C Outdoor Centre rents them as well. That is how I will be renting from given that I live closeby. Hope to see you on the trail.

      January 31, 2013

  • David

    Hi Frank and Linda,

I will try putting a couple of socks with the water bottles I have. That is the advice the guy from MEC gave me aswell. Thanks.

    January 31, 2013

  • David

I will need a ride on this trip and the other thing I would like to know is how do you keep water from freezing. I went hiking with this group in October and my water bag froze. Is there anything to keep it from freezing that I can purchase. This will be helpful as I will be shopping for some appropriate clothing for snowshoeing.

    January 29, 2013

    • Frank & L.

Hi David That's a tough one! Personally I wrap my water bottles in a couple of pairs of socks and if the weather is really cold I slip a disposable hand warmer in between the socks to help to keep it from freezing. I also pack a thermos with hot water.

      January 31, 2013

  • Toru

I'm a new member, but could someone kindly offer me a ride?
