What the Reviews Say:

I've been coming to Pelican Pier for years! Best fish and chips in town hands down. Never greasy never too battery. Just golden brown and delicious. Their tartar sauce is fantastic too. I dip my fries in it!

Since I do not like fish I ordered the chicken fingers. After years and years of eating chicken fingers at multiple different restaurants I have never come across such tasty delicious fresh chicken fingers. They we so lightly battered and fresh not frozen just so awesome. Yeah you think just chicken fingers how boring...NO not these ones they were so good. My garden salad had home made raspberry vinaigrette dressing and it was so good.

We managed to miss the rain during our walk....the mosquitoes accompanied us everywhere. Had a lovely supper while the rain was pouring - perfect evening!

We are going to be late, Frank is almost home then it will take 20 - 30 minutes for us to get there. I am not expecting that many people will make it on time, not sure what rush hour traffic is looking like
See you at Nose Hill Park

Had a busy day and not really up for the challenge of trying to make it across town in rush hour on time . So I'm going to pass on this evening . Have fun everyone!

Frank & I are still going to come for the walk and supper. If you feel it is not safe or you do not want to drive/walk in the rain please change your RSVP so that we have a good idea of how many are going to make it. I need to let the restaurant know too. Thanks

Hi Frank and Linda. I am coming for the walk, but have to leave for the nightshift work, unfortunately.... see you up there soon,

    Count me in for dinner.

I am keeping an eye on the weather warnings and evacuations throughout the city. I will post again around about 5 pm to let you know if the meeting is still on. I love Calgary, literally 2 minutes ago the street outside my house was dry and the sun was shining, now the rain is belting down and the wind is blowing from two directions : )

too busy to play. And that weather. Nay nay

Mosquito Alert! Apparently severe with so much rain (unless, of course, it's raining! ;-) Seriously, I heard on CBC radio! I think this makes me very likely to be a dinner only person unless it's just sort of Scottish outside. My medication interacts with the mosquito secretions... braver souls should dress accordingly and bring repellent, apparently.

Good to have joined this group. I will click tomorrow if I can come and see a wee bit of Scots :)
    Otherwise next time!

Surprise, Surprise, the weather forecast is calling for.....more rain! Bring your waterproofs. If there is lightening in the area we will walk along the pathways, if not we will pop up the hill to see what Scotland looks like on a regular basis :)

    June 19, 2013

  • Penny

Same question as Evelyn, if it looks like a bad day to stand on top of a hill due to lightning risk ;-) can we contact someone or just show up at the Pelican Pier? If I'm not there and the weather is marginal, try calling me at[masked]

    • Frank & L.

Hi Penny If the weather is really too dangerous for us to be on the hill, then we will walk for a short period along the pathways beside NoseHill. You are more than welcome to join us for supper about 715 if you are not sure about walking

      June 19, 2013

  • mietka Z

    Coming for walk only.

Do we still meet for the hike if it raining, or just go to dinner Ev.

    June 18, 2013

We walk no matter what, except dangerous lightening, come with a jacket! We may, depending on how everyone is feeling cut the walk shorter

      1 · June 18, 2013

    • Frank & L.

....or you can just come for supper. We normally get there between 715 and 730. We have a complete section being held for us.

    Hi Penny

Welcome to the group, on Thursday nights we just 'daunder' which is the Scottish word for stroll or wander slowly, so you will fit in just fine. We are doing some hills this week as it is Nose Hill we are walking in, but we will take them easy too

I am looking forward to the walk, dinner and meeting other nature lovers.
