Tuesday Morning Walk: "The Forgotten Trail!"

  • Jul 15, 2014 · 9:30 AM
  • Trailhead to Fish Creek Park below...

We explore this forgotten trail in Fish Creek Park as it is disconnected from the  others because of the creek on one side and the hill to the north.

This should take around an hour in total.

Bow Bottom Trail SE  Tim Hortons or the McDonalds for coffee afterwards?

Dogs welcome if on leash and obedient! Just remember that some members may be afraid of them. Others are allergic to them and a loose dog can put them in the hospital if they come in contact with them.

What really interested me was that Christine found a Bison vertebrae, which must have been exposed by the flood waters. I'm sure it's been close to 150 years since Bison roamed the area.

Does anyone know who has this vertebrae now and if anyone is checking into getting it dated and ID'd?

Would love a romantic LUNCH there- can't afford dinner, especially with vino! Muy caro! But menu even for lunch, which is actually similar to dinner menu, is much more reasonable, depending on how famished the diner is who has just biked the entire park!

Yes, romantic is good : ) and lunch too! Have you ever been for brunch there? Had a few mimosa's there with brunch last year, which is one of my fave drinks : ) Biking? Maybe we should organize a bike meet up in the park sometime and have a mimosa afterwards!

Great hike in Fish Creek Park this morning! If you didn't see me, I was there in spirit. Missed the turn-off, went too far east, turned around but ended up down at the Ranche. Later figured out where you should be, but too late, so walked 5 k with an habituée of the Park, then had lunch at the Ranche Café. Visited the beaut Ranche Restaurant built in the late 1880's - I believe- . The lighter lunch fare is quite reasonable too. Next time!?1

Hi Judith, I love the Ranche Restaurant too, so much character and charm (just like the NL members! : ) Our group visited Annie's Café after a recent walk but hoping we can go for lunch (or supper) at the restaurant very soon. Its good in winter too because of the castle style wood burning fireplace in the main hall

I really did forget about the forgotten trail from the last time we did the west section! Great to find a new trail to explore! Great fun with the members today on this interesting trail!
