Silly me thought today was Thurs so went to Fish Creek Pk for 6:15. Funny, I was the only one there. But I thought I'd let you know that tonight the barriers were across the entry & exit of the parking lot at Votier Flats. I wonder if the park closes after dark in winter?

Thanks Dianne - I called Parks Canada and guess what the park is closed at 6 p m. I will come up with some walking directions before our walk tonight.

Drive as far south as you can on Elbow Drive and you end up in Fish Creek Park - that's the car park we are meeting at. I believe the bus terminus us there too

In Fish Creek Park some species of male owls start their mating calls about mid February. If we are lucky, we may hear one at this location. If interested, google Great Horned, Boreal and Saw Whet owls. Some bird sites will have audios of these 3 calls.

A few years ago Frank and I had the privilege of watching two great horned owls(??) in one tree and a porcupine in the very next tree in Fish Creek park by Sikome Lake. Unfortunately the trees were blown over by a storm later that year.
