The Sheep River Valley and its tributaries offer a tranquil foothills setting for X-country skiing. There are over 40km. of groomed ski trails crossing rolling terrain and many nice routes ranging in 1km up to 6km.This would be a good area for beginners since there is no steep up/down hill.I was out there family Day to ski and was surprised how nice it was to ski there. We will do something in the 7-10 range or decide as a group.
What to Bring:
Your ski outfit along with your backpack with lunch, snacks and water.Dress in layers for winter. If you are driving directly to the trail head go to the 4-way stop in Turner Valley then head west on hi-way 546 for 18 km. until you come to the locked winter gates. This is where you will park.We should be there about 10:15-10:30a.m. Afterward we will head to Black Diamond for a hot drink at Marv's diner.
