Snowshoe Moose Meadows to the Ink Pots - Intermediate

This trail gradually climbs up from the meadow until we come out on the level at the ink pots.  The ink pots are small thermal pools that are open year round and in the summer are quite colorful.  The distance on this trip is 12 km with an elevation gain of 215m and there is no avalanche risk on this trail.  This is not for first time beginners due to the distance and elevation gain.  For this snowshoe trip you will need a park pass, however some of the group park passes so we may have enough for all the carpooling cars but please be prepared to chip in and pay your share of a group day pass if need be.  Children must be at least 14 years of age (accompanied and the full responsibility of a parent), with the physical capabilities to meet the requirements of the trip.  No Pets Please.

You will need a lunch and something like energy bars or trail mix for snacks. A small thermos with a hot drink for lunch is nice but optional. Large heavy coats will be too hot for climbing hills and overheating causes energy loss. I suggest you dress in layers and NO COTTON. Make sure you have room in your pack to store your coat if you need to take it off for awhile because you are overheating and remember to bring an extra pair of warm dry mitts to put on after lunch. We will snowshoe at a leisurely pace with little stops to catch our breath so everyone enjoys the day and so we can admire the view and take pictures.

ALL WINTER TRIPS ARE DEPENDENT ON WEATHER CONDITIONS SO THE MORNING OF THE TRIP PLEASE CHECK THE WEBSITE TO MAKE SURE THE TRIP ISN'T CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS.We will meet at Shouldice Arena Parking lot at the corner by 16th Ave, there will be a carpooling fee of $18 per person paid to your driver, please have correct change. For those who don't mind taking their car and some passengers please indicate as a comment when you RSVP. This will be a full day trip with us arriving back at Shouldice late afternoon. We will leave within 5 minutes of the posted meeting time, please come 10 minutes early. If you have a problem and need to let me know you are on your way my phone is[masked], if texting please put your name in the text.

The trip will go as planned, prepare for the weather, dress in layer and bring WARM MITTS AND HAT! There is a chance we could first on the trail after the recent snow and may have to do some trail breaking so eat a hearty breakfast.

Hi Malu, there is transit that comes very close to Shouldice Arena Parking lot where we meet, from there we set up carpooling for all. We meet in the corner of the parking lot closest to 16th Ave and Home Road.
