Ha Ling is a steep hike and sometimes considered an easy scramble. Snow conditions will add some challenge. Make sure you bring the needed gear.

If you are leaving from South, early departure is recommended. Please aim between 8.45-9.00. If need coffee, there's a Starbucks at the meetup place. My cell phone is[masked]; call/text me if needed. We won't wait for you too long.

I'm also interested in going for a light supper in Canmore after the trip.

Gear Required: Microspikes, insulated/waterproof hiking boots, hiking poles, gaiters, warm clothes and shell layers, food, snacks, and minimum 2 litres of water.

Recommended: Ice axe, camera.

Directions: Drive to Canmore. Drive up highway #742, the Smith-Dorrien-Spray Lakes Trail towards the Canmore Nordic Centre. Continue past the turn-off for the Nordic Centre, keeping to the left. Continue on the gravel and park in the Goat Creek Parking Lot.

I wouldn't have called this 'easy', what with the snow and the howling wind and the frozen rain. But that's winter in the mountains for you, and it was a great day in the mountains. Thanks everyone!

Does anyone have some extra microspikes I can use. I lent mine to a friend and won't be able to get them back before tomorrow.

I have a pair too. I'll use my alpine boots, and depending on the snow, will likely not use microspikes.

Alright, thanks. See you tomorrow then.
