Alberta's newest provincial park (Glenbow) is located just west of Calgary before Cochrane along the banks of the Bow River. I have not yet been to visit and thought it would be a good introduction for new (and old) CORA members to get out in the fresh air and start conditioning for the hiking season.
There are multiple trails, great views, and different ecosystems to see so bring your binoculars and camera. Lots of birds to see as the spring migration is underway.
Depending on the group we will walk 5-15km at a slow pace.
please bring: warm layers, water, snacks/lunch, appropriate footwear for walking. We will go rain/shine so a rain coat would be good too.
We will meet in the Dalhousie parking lot behind Chapters and arrange a carpool from there.
CORA 2013 membership fee: $20, drop in fee: $5
You will need to sign a trip waiver.
Directions to site: take 1A hwy west from Calgary and then turn left on Glenbow road. Follow road to park entrance.
