    TRIP WAIVER AND CONDITIONS: You must sign a trip waiver to attend this event. The yearly membership fee is $20. Memberships purchased now will last until the Annual General Meeting in 2014. Alternately, you may participate as a non-member for $5 for the day.

    Description: Moderate Hike (D3 - 4)

    The trail offers sunny aspen terraces, creek crossings, a meadow and an apparently spectacular view of the Threepoint Creek and Volcano Creek gorges. Views of Allsmoke Mountain are also promised.

    There may be some bushwhacking along creek side.

    Distance: +15 k (roundtrip; approximate)

    Roundtrip Time: 10 hours est. (Only an estimate. Don’t make plans that depend on it. It’s the mountains.)

    Driving Time: 2 1/2 to 3 hours (return)

    On Trail time:  5 - 6 hours

    Elevation gain: approx. 400 m (Calgary Tower is 191m high)

    Driving Directions

    Leaving Calgary, we head south towards Millarville.  We continue on Hwy 549 to the Mesa. Butte campground.  200 m North of the campground we turn west onto a well access road.  After crossing the bridge over Threepoint Creek we will drive  1.7 km to a road junction.  Keeping right, we will drive another 500 m, once again crossing a bridge over Threepoint Creek.  Park at an orange sign saying "Barricade Ahead".  This should be the former Forgetmenot Mountain fire road and the trailhead.

      I don't know if there will be snow. Microspikes might be a good idea but we won't need an Ice Axe. The only possible hazard is creek crossings.
