The plan will be to drive to Rosedale which is just past Drumeller. From Rosedale we will cycle to Dorothy, which is a semi ghost town with interesting buildings and a large grain elevator. Bring a camera as it is a great place to get a bit of history. We also pass an old historic coal mine, which is great for a quick visit.
It is about 75km return so you should be comfortable doing this length of ride. It is a great early season ride, mainly flat with some undulating terrain here and there. Traffic is at a minimum here which is a bonus.
Please have warm gear and wind/waterproof shell and plenty of snacks and liquid. A bike repair kit is a must as is a spare and pump. Sorry no mountain or urban bikes on this trip please.
If the weather looks really bad I shall cancel. If the weather takes a turn for the better in K country we will go for a ride down towards Highwood Pass and see how far we can get.
I usually don't mind rain but I just got a new bike and don't want to go for a slide if there is a torrent, so I will cancel and repost for next week if it looks like thunderstorms.
I do not have a hitch as I have bought a new vehicle, but I do have a Thule 4 bike rack if anyone has a large sized trailer hitch. Please let me know if you can drive and have a bike rack for others.
