D4 Nihahi Ridge Hike

We will meet at MacMahon Stadium near the bridge to the LRT Station at 8:00.

Difficulty: D4

Distance: 9km Return

Elevation Gain: 700+m

Hiking Time: 4-5 hours

Location: West of Bragg Creek

Update your RSVP as early as possible, at least 48 hours before the meeting time. If you are unable to attend for any reason whatsoever, LET ME KNOW as soon as possible. If you do not let me know, you will be recorded as a "no show".

Car Pooling:
Please indicate in your COMMENTS if you can drive. I need to know if we have adequate transportation for all participants, not your preference to ride.

The trip organizer reserves the right to move people on and off the trip or wait list, or to increase or reduce the size of the group, in order to match people to the trip based on fairness, ability, safety, and other criteria.

TRIP WAIVER AND CONDITIONS: You must sign a trip waiver to attend this event. Yearly membership fee is $20 which lasts until the Annual General Meeting in 2014. Alternately, you may participate as a non-member for $5 for the day.

The organizer is not a licenced guide. Just an experienced hiker willing to share his knowledge.

Directions to the trailhead: 

We will meet at MacMahon Stadium parking lot and Head west on highway #1 from Calgary. We will turn south on Hwy 22 and continue south past Bragg Creek and turn west (right) onto highway #66. Continue on highway #66 for 30 kilometers and turn onto the access road for the Little Elbow Recreation Area. Turn and park at the second left turn. There is a sign "Trailhead parking" where you should park.

Weather forecast: Be prepared for any conditions

Trail conditions: was dry on the long weekend

Members are free. Non-members fee is $5. Gas contributions for drivers (see below).

Transport :
CORA trips start at the trailhead. As a convenience to participants only, we meet at the meeting point in Calgary then car pool from there. Please be on time. We don't want to have to wait around long. You may choose to meet us at the trailhead, but please advise us ahead of time. Please indicate in your RSVP COMMENTS if you can drive, if necessary. Please reimburse some $$ to drivers for gas.


Please dress for the weather: Weather can change quickly -- rain, snow, wind, warm, or cold -- BE PREPARED. No COTTON 
Mandatory - sense of humour, backpack, lunch, 2 litres of water, 

Recommended - camera, gaiters, hiking poles, Microspikes

    Question about the location:
    Nihahi ridge is on the south end of the Powderface Trail but the Dawson Equestrian is on the North end of Powerface trail.

    Is one of them wrong?

      No you have to drive approx 20km past the Dawson eq. At the point where powder face tr and 66 meet you turn right and drive approx 2 km the parking lot is on the left and go to the end of the parking lot.

      I may have worded it slightly confusing. The directions state the trail head is at the Dawson Equestrian and the directions given are for the Dawson Equestrian as well. Your directions sound more in the right direction.
