Due to the distance and elevation this event is not for beginners! We leave from Dalhousie at 7am SHARP due to the distance and road conditions. Please be on time so as not to ruin the trip for the rest of us.
Distance: 20.4 km
Elevation Gain: 720m
Be prepared for mountain weather, no cotton.
We will hike from Larch Valley to Paradise Valley and the Giant Steps, an absolutely beautiful staggered set of waterfalls, via Sentinel Pass.
This is one of the most scenically splendid trails in Banff National Park. We’ll follow the Larch Valley trail towards Sentinel Pass. At an elevation of 2611 m (8566 feet), Sentinel Pass is one of the highest in Banff National Park. From the pass we will descend into Paradise Valley. This is steep and could be icy in spots.
Icers or good soled hiking boots/gaiters are a must.
We need at least 2 cars to do the loop as it will require a car shuttle between the two trailheads. Please let me know who can drive and has a vehicle which can take 6 people.
I am staying at Lake Louise on Saturday night and will not be returning to Calgary. I will be doing some photography in the area. Anyone that wishes to stay and join me must make their own arrangements. I drive a dark blue jeep - cell[masked]-3476.
