AST-1 Avalanche Safety Course

PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK THE DATES AS THERE IS A FULL WEEKEND INVOLVED.

If you are interested in this free program put your name on the waiting list, THEN read the requirements below. This event is sponsored by the Training and Leadership Committee (TLC). For more information on training and leadership contact the TLC. We have secured some slots for the December 15th and 16th sessions of the AST-1 Avalanche Safety program offered by CAOC. This is a two day course. You will be required to attend both days of this program. Day 1 - Dec 15 - in class all day (9 AM - 5 PM) Day 2 - Dec 16 - in the field (Burstall Pass or Bow Summit) (9-5 PM). DO NOT sign up if you cannot attend: CAOC is funding this program. There is no charge to attend. Instruction is provided by Yamnuska Mountain Adventures. At the completion of this course you will receive your AST-1 Certificate. QUALIFICATIONS: To clarify, to qualify for this program: 1) you must be a full member of CORA (membership form and fee); 2) you must provide Bruce P. with your full contact information, including full name, telephone number and email address (this information is passed to CAOC for their purposes); and 3) you must also place your name on the wait list (so we know you want in). You must do all THREE THINGS. The TLC reserves the right to reject incomplete applications without notice to you. Please ensure you have completed all the requirements outlined above. Decisions are made based on merit and participation, as well as first in line. Slots will be provided to trip organizers first. All decisions are final. Bring pen/pencil, lunch, comfortable clothing for the practical elements, and your questions. We have an unknown number of spaces. Bruce P. will add people from the waiting list as they are approved. Being on the waiting list is not a guarantee you will be chosen. Getting on the waiting list first may not improve your chances. WAITING LIST: In the event a slot comes open due to a person having to withdraw from the course at the last minute (emergency), we will select the next eligible person in line for the opening.
