Red Earth Creek Trailhead is 20 km west of Banff on the Trans-Canada Highway. The trail climbs gradually through lodgepole pine forests to the Shadow Lake Trail. The last few kilometres returning to the highway can be exhilarating. This will be a long day.
It is your responsibility to make sure you have acquired all required equipment, clothing, and food for this trip. All outdoor activities involve a certain degree of risk, so it is up to you to be prepared, self-reliant, responsible, cautious, and aware of hazards. As well, mountain weather can be unpredictable, so be prepared for changes. Check the weather before the trip to determine appropriate clothing. For safety reasons, if you show up for this trip unprepared or with inappropriate clothing / gear you will not be permitted to continue on the trip.
