YOU can shape outdoor leadership with CORA at the Annual General Meeting! You can also enter to WIN a TENT!

Hello fellow adventurers!

A great adventure can begin as the ambitious plan of a gathering of dreamers. Or it can begin as a desire to meet new friends, learn outdoor leadership skills, and get in shape! As you know, the CORA Annual General Meeting takes place on April 3rd (one week from tomorrow), and it will begin great adventures, so you don't want to miss it.

At this meeting, we will be unveiling CORA's Vision and Mission. This will shape how we serve those who wish to explore the prairies, the Rockies and beyond.

You can help CORA fulfill our vision and mission simply by participating in the Annual General Meeting, and by participating in the trips we organize. You are who CORA was made for! But perhaps you have a great passion that can meet the needs of those wishing to participate, and enable even more people to explore the outdoors. Read below for a selection of more ways in which you could contribute your interests, training, expertise, and skills. It's not an exhaustive list--you may know of a way you can contribute you don't see mentioned here. Perhaps you are looking for experience in a particular area. Let us know. If you're interested in enriching CORA with your time and talents as a volunteer, send a brief resume to coramg [at] telus [dot] net . If you'd like to learn more, speak to a Board member after the meeting. If you're not able to attend the AGM, send an email to coramg [at] telus [dot] net .

Communications: social media management (Twitter, Facebook), web development, copy writing.

Safety: Trip review, incident management, safety policy development, safety education and communication.

Finance: Book-keeping, financial reporting, financial planning.

External: Building relationships with other outdoor recreation stakeholders, coordinating programs with partners (eg. Calgary Area Outdoor Council, Kananaskis, Banff National Park), community engagement at outdoor recreation events.

Membership: Data entry and management, managing member registration, developing membership policy.

Social: Social event planning, welcoming at CORA promotional events (eg. MEC member days).

Training & Leadership: Outdoor skills training for members and organizers, leadership policy development, policy orientation for organizers.

Again, let us know if you have other interests and skills that might fill a need for CORA.

As for the tent, every current member (memberships will be sold at the door - $20) in attendance can put their name in a free draw for a tent generously donated by Mountain Equipment Co-op.

We look forward to meeting you on April 3rd. Maybe we've already shared adventures and maybe we may be meeting you for first time to talk and dream of adventures to come! See you at the Calgary Area Outdoor Council on Memorial Drive at 10th Street NW at 7pm!

Happy trails,
