Chickadee Valley

We can go to Chickadee Valley, which will be a good place for those who are relatively new to ski touring or have bum knees :(

Remember you avi transceivers, shovels and probes.

Those who have yet to get signed off on the AI, A2 designation will get to do that.

Yes Jessica, Chickadee Valley has a range of diffculty, but is mostly in the Easy/Intermediate range so you and others should have no trouble with this.

Hi Tom, are these destinations easy/intermediate? I have xc skied & downhill (resort) skied forever, but am new to Backcountry & don't want to do anything too advanced. Also, do we need a helmet?

Hi Tom, I have reserved an Alpine Touring ski package & Safety package (beacon, probe, shovel) from MEC. Please let me know if what I have reserved is not what is needed for Friday's outing. Thanks!

Hi Tom, I'm new, but think this would be a great way to ease into things. I have the gear and have taken the week long CAA1 course.

I would like to join if a spot comes available. I will have to rent gear. I took my AST1 this year.

    Thanks Tom,
I don't have all the necessary gear I think :) thank you very much anyways will do that next year maybe...

    March 22, 2013

  • Tom

Yes Sina, I will post a complete gear list a bit later but you will need an Avalanche Transceiver (2 or 3 Antenna), Shovel, Probe, Skis/Splitboard, Skins, plus clothing and emergency bivy gear (i.e. be prepared to spend an unplanned night outside). For those who have yet to be signed off on the A1 designation we will take time to get that done.
