Intro to Beginner, Intermediate Scrambling - Fairview Mountian

Please carefully read the gear requirements and trip difficulty ratings. It is the responsibility of the participant to check for any updates, changes or cancellations before the day of the trip.

Make sure that you have paid for a 2013 membership with the CSMC. Payment can be made online or at the meeting location. Waivers are mandatory for every trip will be filled out at the meeting location. Cost for membership with the CSMC is $20 for 2013. Be sure to also bring extra money for car pooling costs.

Fairview Mtn is a climb with spectacular views.  Ascending on a well defined trail from Chateau Lake Louise parking lot the summit should be reached in under 2 hours.  From the summit descent will be made SW along a saddle ridge to a Pinnacle where we will break into groups based on ability, brief and play on various routes on the Pinnacle.  The Pinnacle offers routes for all abilities.  Some routes offer exposure, see photo.  Return will be along bolder bowl East to main trail.

I am looking for 2 Organizers to assist.

When will you be having another event like this?

Hi Stephanie, I have nothing planned in the near future. I may do it again later in the season or combine with bagging a peak. The Pinnacle SW form Fairview peak is a great venue. Maybe email Organizer Tom and ask him to make the request to all organizers to accelerate. :) Kevin

Thank you for great fun! Really enjoyed the scramble and I am glad I did the difficult route without much fear. Thanks for accommodating yourselves towards my jokes and "excessive" personality.....

The North entrance to the station is off of 17th Ave. Kindly cross 69th street while heading West on 17th Ave and turn left into the well signed entrance road. This road continues 50 feet directly into the FREE Parkade. Upon entering the Parkade, if driving, you will see a Grey Pathfinder immediately on your left. If taking the LRT kindly proceed to the Parkade street level West vehicle entrance area and look for a Grey Pathfinder. Unlike Shouldice there will be only one group mustering at this location. As such, walking down the long line of vehicles trying to find the right muster will not be necessary. Further, departure from the city West is immediate. If you have difficulties kindly telephone me on my cell[masked]

Kevin, would you mind providing a brief description of the muster point at the station for everyone, it's a big parking lot, perhaps infront of main terminal doors but I'm not familiar with the area either.
    Thanks Tamara

Hi Chris, Google the 69th Street LRT in Google maps and you will see the location. It is very simple and off course LRT accessible. West on 17 Ave to 69th Street South West. Any more questions and you pay for all the gas!

    • Witek

It's a new station - Google may need an update.
I haven't seen it either, but there is a Park and Ride. I hope we can find the group around Kevin's grey Pathfinder.

Thanks Witek. Exactly, it is brandnew and not everybody knows it. Google is a bad reference, because it is never updated, for legal reasons. It is easier to give a 2 sentence description of the spot we meet in, than trying to figure out useless Google information for hours. Google, for legal reasons, always uses old street shots; gives me a street view of the intersection entered, and no map with a LRT parking, only a stop. It is generally not created to find P&R areas for LRT stations. That is why I asked for information on our mtg point, which is not answered by google, and don't know why a simple yes/no question about the existence of a P&R has to raise so much frustration.
