After enjoying a very pleasant stroll along Grizzly Ridge this past Saturday I am going to head just south of the Highwood Pass and go for a relaxed stroll up Mt. Lipsett.
The traditional route starts about 7.5 Kms South of the Mt. Lipsett Day Use area. As the road is closed at the Lipsett Day Use area my plan is to park there and then work our way up what looks like an easy slope to the Lipsett/Mist Col and then to the summit.
The view from Grizzly Ridge (picture to follow), looks quite straightforward and I don't anticipate any difficulties (there will be some bushwacking)
Elevation gain: about 700 Meters
Car to car: About 10 Km
Car to car: 5 to 7 hours
Gear: Come prepared for winter (toque, gloves/mitts, warm clothes, down jacket if you have one). All you need to do is look at the pictures from the other club trips this weekend to give you an idea of what things might be like.
You should also come prepared to deal with WIND
Also bring your camera for if the weather gods treat us well the views will be stunning with the snow, fall colors and golden larches!!
Finally, it's best not to make plans for the evening as we may not get back to Calgary in time (i.e. we may stop for food, drink and the opportunity to swap lies about mountain adventures past and dreams of ones to come.)
