Thunder mountain. Easy / Moderate Scramble.

***It is extremely important to read the following information. Failing to do so will result in your removal from the trip***

It is the responsibility of the participant to check for any updates, changes or cancellations before the trip. Gear checks will be conducted at the meet up location. Failure to have the required gear will result in the participant not attending the trip. Participants will also need to answer all the questions regarding this trip before I decide who attends.

An automatic waiting list has been created for this trip. CSMC members will have priority over non members on the waiting list (See next paragraph for membership information). Participants will also be selected based on scrambling experience for the selected objective. Participants must be punctual and have a good RSVP history. Which means they do not constantly change their RSVP statuses, are not regularly late and do not back out last minute. To put it simply, I decide who goes on this trip regardless of who signs up first. No shows will be black listed by me.

Membership:

Make sure that you have paid for a 2013 membership with the CSMC. Payment can be made online through the CSMC page on Meetup or at the meeting location. It is preferred that you pay online before attending and to receive priority over non members. Waivers are mandatory for every trip and can be printed online or filled out at the meeting location. Cost for membership with the CSMC is $20.

Car pooling:

Anyone who has a vehicle may be asked to drive for the trip. Please make sure to bring gas money for car pooling. It is recommended that drivers charge a 20 cent per kilometer / $20 every 100 kilometers rate for driving. This can be divided by the number of occupants in the vehicle. For example if the trip is 300 km’s round trip and there are four people in the vehicle. The cost for gas would be $15 per person.

When you arrive to the meet up location. Look for a car with a red flashing LED on top of it. This is to help people find me in the morning.

Thunder Mountain is located on the north end of the Livingstone Range down near the Crowsnest Pass area.

Group size: 10

Route: North Ridge.

Difficulty: easy and or moderate in dry conditions. Snow, ice, wind, etc, will greatly increase the difficulty of the trip.

Altitude: 2332 Meters

Elevation gain: 975 Meters

Estimated trip time (Car to car): 5-9 hours.

(Please note that times listed above are only estimations. Trip could be longer or shorter depending on conditions of terrain, weather and group.)

Thanks Kevin but now I realize it's almost as fast for me to get to the meeting point in Bridlewood so I'll jump in with you from there instead of your place.

Not sure if you got my message Kevin. I'm in Patterson so not too far. Where should I drive to meet you? And what time?

Just a heads up that the weather will be changing over night and there is a snowfall warning in place for Saturday. Please adjust your departure time when heading to the meetup spot. We will need at least three vehicles for this trip if each were to hold four. Drivers should have a vehicle equipped for this weekends weather. I will be one of three drivers, so I will need at least two more for tomorrow morning.

I live in Kensington and can give rides to a few if not too far out of the way. If we finish scrambling early enough, I suggest a stop at Outdoor Outlet in Pincher Creek for the best deals on clothes and gear I have seen in Canada. They close at 5:30 p.m.

Just a reminder that we are meeting in the east parking lot on the east side of the C-train station. You should see tim Hortons right across the street. If you have never been here before, please make sure that you are aware of where this location is before leaving.
