Healy Pass {Tom's waitlist}

Yet again Toms trip is full. On his request I will be taking anyone on the wait list that wants to go. Please take yourself off his waitlist and RSVP this trip

Please note that our meetup location is different than Toms

We will drive to Sunshine ski hill and park in the back parking lot.

The trail starts a short way up the ski out. The first 7.7 km from the parking lot is on a trail in the forest, the last 1.5 km to the pass is through open meadows. You need enough ski experience to be able to descend a tight trail through the forest (a good snowplow is a must!). There will be an opportunity for turns near the pass, however this trip is more of a tour than a yoyo ski destination

.Note that we will be taking the time to study the avalanche conditions, and dig a few snow pits.Participants should have their A1 designation with CSMC. if you don’t have it then you can get this checked and signed off during this trip.

    Healy Pass is difficult for splitboarders... too flat! But it was a great day with patient people, thank you to everybody!

    HELP PLEASE!
    I'm signed up on Tom's list for Healy Pass and would really LOVE to attend this trip but my ski+avi gear are all still in Vancouver (didn't manage to squeeze them in when I was moving here in Sept, will bring them in January..) - I can easily borrow/rent avi gear but really afraid I may not be able to rent AT skis+boots.... MEC won't rent till Dec, SportsRent doesn't rent AT skis at all so the only other place I know of is UofC (will check tomorrow..).
    DO YOU KNOW OF ANY OTHER PLACE IN THIS TOWN THAT RENTS BACKCOUNTRY SKI GEAR???
    I'll be most thankful for any advice!!!
    Many thanks!!!

    Light touring skis should be fine Vonda. By the sounds of the weather report we are not going to in thigh deep powder. You will probably be better off than the rest of us.

    I have light touring skis with skins ....I have done Healy Pass before. Do you feel this is appropriate for this trip? I realize I will not be doing any aerials or other stunts with my basic equipment! ;-)
