Climbing After Work at local crag

Climbing at a local crag, likely Heart Cr, Wasootch, Barrier or Grassi.  Trip leader is an RCA so assessments can be done for participants who have not yet had the opportunity to have RC1, RC2 or RC3.

Obviously this event is weather dependant and can be canceled on short notice if the said weather deteriorates... so please check before heading out

*** It is extremely Important that you read the following information carefully and prepare accordingly***

It is the responsibility fo the participant to check for any updates, changes or cancellations before the trip. Gear checks will be conducted at the meet-up location. Failure to have the required gear will result in the participant not attending the trip.

An Automatic waiting list has been created for this trip. Participatants must be punctual and have a good RSVP history. Which means they do not constantly change their RSVP statuses, are not regularly late and do not back out at the last minute.

Membership:

In order to participate in a CSMC trip, you must have paid for a 2014 Membership. Cost for the membership with the CSMC is $20:00. Payment can be made online through the CSMC page on Meetup. Waivers are mandatory for every trip and can be filled out following the link below

***It is extremely important to read the following information carefully and prepare accordingly. The CSMC has introduced a competency skill assessment in order to rock climb with the club. Those who haven't been assessed for 2014, will be checked individually once we are at the crag.

This event is open to all levels of ability.. If you are new to climbing in general it can help to take an intro to climbing course at one of the local climbing walls ( but not necessary to participate )

It would be a good idea to bring warm clothing as the weather/sunshine can vary alot.. Please be at Shouldice asap to 5 pm .. it is a 45 min drive to most crags... If you are unable to arrive on time post a note here and meet us at the crag...

It was a busy night at First Rock in Heart Creek. There were several groups climbing. Its a lot tougher climbing here than at Wasootch especially the first couple of metres which are well polished and hard to get traction on. Once you get past this the climbing is more to grade. Bring bug spray. The mosquitoes are becoming pesky.

Thanks -- just bought the latest Sport Climbs edition from play.google for $8. Now it'll just always be on my phone. :-)

Since people want mostly 5.7 to 5.10 at most, it would be nice to go to Heart Creek to climb at First Rock. However, I don't have a guidebook to distinguish the climbs -- does anyone have a late edition sport climb book they can bring along?

Sounds like I'm the rookie on this outing. My comfort level is 5.8ish at best. Not likely to get far on anything more difficult. I'd be keen on trying somewhere other than Wasootch.

I'd like to have some input on where to go tomorrow so that Jeff (and Alison?) will know the destination. This will primarily be based on people's ability and climbing comfort level. Please let me know the 5.x range that you would like to climb tomorrow in reply to this comment.

My climbing level will be below 5.10, not sure how far below though. I haven't climbed for about 6 months due to injury. I don't mind where we go, just keen to get back on some rock.

Hi Mark, I'll meet the group at Shouldice at 5 pm. I spoke with Jeff and he'll be joining us at the crag. I'm up for anything[masked] ish, and am good for going where the group decides, thanks for asking!

    Hi Mark,
I won't be able to make it for 5pm, and so I will meet you at the crag. Alison and I will likely be car pooling as such, but I have not discussed that with her as of yet. Cheers!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
