Winter Hike! Mount Lady MacDonald

Please read the entire posting, and answer ALL the questions before placing yourself on the list. We will be leaving the carpool location promptly at 7:30 AM.

I will go with slow to moderate pace with breaks to enjoy the view, take pictures...Please don't signup if you can not stay with the group. We will go up to the Tea House ( Reports suggest that Tea House has been demolished  in summer of 2013)  and assess snow on the slope leading to the ridge.

Distance: Approximately 8-10KM Return

Elevation Gain: About 900 M to Teahouse, 1250M to Ridge, 1300 M to Summit

Estimated trip time: About 6 - 8 hours plus driving time.  Please note that duration is approximate, always expect the unexpected and come prepared.  Please do not make plans that require a rush to return to the city.

Trailhead: From the Trans-Canada, take exit 91.  Turn left onto Bow Valley Trail and then left again onto Elk Run Blvd.  Park by the Cougar Creek lot.

Hiker requirements: You are fully prepared with proper gear (listed below) and you're physically fit to do this hike with the group.  Good sense of humor and a desire to explore.

Gear requirements- Dress for winter

Icers absolutely Mandatory

Winter Jacket and warm hand gloves

Water (I'd suggest a minimum of 2L)

Sturdy Hiking boots

Snow pants

Hiking poles

Extra Snacks and/or Packed Lunch

Personal First Aid Kit

Suggested passenger fare/costs:

$15 for gas per person and in cash to your driver.

If the weather doesn't cooperate we will go somewhere else.

For the all the hikers, icers / microspikes are mandatory. I will check for them before starting the hike. I have done lady Mac in winter and you will need them. Also hiking poles.
