Snowshoe! - Hogarth Lakes

Trail: Hogarth Lakes Snowshoe Loop

Location: Burstall Pass trailhead / parking lot. Snowshoe trail starts on North-West end of lot.

Distance: 3.9 Km Loop

Elevation: ~40m

Difficulty: Easy.

For this meetup, you're responsible for finding your own set of snowshoes PRIOR to the event. They are available for rent at the U of C Outdoor Centre, MEC, as well as other rental shops around town. Also, I plan on leaving the park and ride by 8:15 sharp and will go ahead with those in attendance at that time.

Make sure you dress for the weather! Snow pants, waterproof boots, gaiters, trekking poles, warm jacket, toque, mitts, etc. Also bring sandwiches, snacks and water to drink, perhaps something hot such as soup, tea or hot chocolate!  Please be courteous and bring money to share in the cost of fuel for the carpool.  Suggested car pool fare is $10 to $15/passenger

We will meet at the Sirocco Park and Ride to sort out carpools and directions.

More info on the trail:  http://www.albertaparks.ca/peter-lougheed/information-facilities/trails/hogarth-lakes-loop-snowshoe.aspx

More info on gear rentals at U of C:  http://www.calgaryoutdoorcentre.ca

Please keep in mind that I am not a guide so everyone coming should do their homework and be able to help in navigation, and know where the trailhead is located.

This Meetup is weather dependent and will be cancelled if the weather is unfavourable.  Also, if there are any unforeseen circumstances that arise (trail conditions, etc.) we will simply try to switch to another trail located somewhat nearby.

Anyone waitlisted and still interested in snowshoeing this weekend, i posted Lower Kananaskis Lake for Sunday. It's an easy trail. Right now under suggested meetups.

Hi Brian, thanks for the post. I'll be arriving at the park & drive with bus #2 from 17th. I'll leave SE early and do my best to get there on time, so no one is waiting. Will there be a place in a car you think?

I'll make sure there's a spot for you in my car!

Is there anyone coming out of the east of downtown that would be able to give Malu a lift?

Hi everyone, Are we car pooling? I'm in Inglewood/Ramsay area and would need a ride. I can head to someone's place to make it easier and i'm happy to help with gas money too. Let me know!
