The Calgary Web Communications Strategy Group

The Web Communications Strategy Group was created by Bruce Jensen to help members of corporate communications share ideas, “war stories” and successes about web initiatives at their companies. This group has been in existence for four years, most meetings draw between 20 and 40 attendees. For 2012, Bruce has passed the torch on to Blair Shunk at the IntiSolutions Group, but Bruce will still be involved to ensure that we continue to benefit from his experience with this meetup.


The group is focused on sharing knowledge between mid to large sized organizations in Calgary in the areas of Internets, Intranets and social media from a corporate perspective. The group meets roughly 8 to 10 times a year, meetings are typically held downtown over the noon hour. We are a group of professionals that are dedicated to getting their companies message out in the most effective, efficient ways possible. We are in the trenches producing everything from annual reports, news releases, intranets, blogs and external websites.


Presentations alternate between Group members, and technology vendors. Group presentations will consist of 2 to 4 organizations presenting on a topic at a meeting. The technology meetings will have technology vendors helping us stay up to date with the emerging technologies in our field. Topics will vary widely, but will include: web site/Intranet governance, best practices (IR, CSR for example), case studies, CMS and related applications, social media tools, web analytics and trends.
